The yearly Authors & Artists Expo provides the surrounding communities exposure to authors and artists and enables them to share their talents. Authors and Artists Expo was established in 2015 at Cherry Hill Public Library in a meeting room on the lower level, accommodating the authors, artists, and refreshments in one room.
With the onset of COVID-19 in 2021, the Expo was presented on a virtual platform and returned face-to-face in 2022 at Croft Farm Art Center as an Expo Festival that allowed us to expand due to the growth of participating authors, artists, and the audience. The Expo Festival activities included storytelling, food truck vendors, music, dancing, and giveaways. Children and tween authors read from their works for Storytime on the porch of the historical Kate Evan’s House, monitored by children’s author Cathleen Jenkins and Authors and Artist Chairperson Emma Waring.
The Authors and Artists Expo hosts include the community partners Cherry Hill Arts Board, Cherry Hill African American Civic Association, Cherry Hill Township, Cherry Hill Public Library, and South Jersey Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Our authors and artists, hailing from the surrounding counties, townships, New Jersey Shore area, Essex County, South Atlantic Region, and the Philadelphia Metro area, represent a rich tapestry of talent and diversity. Past participating Artists include Earl Bradley (EB) Lewis, Janet Cohen, Todd Johnson, Cal Massey and his Wife Ira Massey, Dr. Synthia Saint James, Dressler Smith, and Terrill Johnson. Other notable participants have included the Society for Poets of Southern New Jersey, Debra Stout, Dr. Josephine Norwood, Tina Truitt, Ginny Palmieri, Hyacinth Holder, Jennifer Lewis-Hall, Mahawa Banqoura, child author Nia Bradshaw, and Ethan Lambert.
